I was having a conversation with a guy that embedded a nugget of refreshing wisdom into my heart. I was talking about teaching and this particular school and my anxiousness and fears and dread of it all. With that, I know comes my personal added pressure of being the greatest teacher ever, and composing the most ingenuitive of lesson plans and caring comfort for kids. With the combination of these two, I was already defeated.
But then he said, "No way. You have one job: be fragrance."
I looked at him quizzically and slanted my head for more understanding.
"That's it. That's all you are called to do." He was impassioned with vigor. "You just have to be fragrance to these kids. That's it. That's your purpose. You are simple a note to them that says: 'There is a God'. You don't have to worry about all the other stuff, just be fragrance. Just show us to be evidence that there is a God."
What relief. What a wash over me. It relieves so much of the weigh, the expectations, the job, the intensity, of myself. That's it. I don't have to be great teacher or have a fantastic room. I just have to be fragrance.

I like that-for all of us-takes the pressure off, doesn't it? Hang in there, Christina! I can't wait to hear stories of His fragrence spreading around-uniquely through you.
Such great insight from your friend! Glad to hear you were encouraged... Let's talk soon :)
